Highlights

Diaz Lake Recreation Area

Diaz Lake is located on the northern edge of the Mojave Desert at an elevation of 3,700 feet above sea level and three miles south of Lone Pine, California. The lake was naturally formed by the earthquake of 1872 when 18 miles of the Owens Valley floor dropped some 20 feet.

Located on the west shore of Diaz Lake at the base of the Alabama Hills one mile south of Lone Pine, Diaz Lake Campground hosts visitors with 200 tree-covered sites with grills, tables, drinking water, and picnic and rest room facilities. Fishing, water-skiing and swimming in Diaz Lake make the visit even more enjoyable.
